Meet Peter McLauchlan

Peter A. McLauchlan has over 30 years of experience representing clients in maritime, aviation, energy, transportation, and commercial matters worldwide.

Fluent in Spanish, Peter is a trusted advisor to global clients regarding the challenges they face in the international business and regulatory arena. Prior to practicing law, Peter attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, at Kings Point, graduating with honors in Marine Engineering and Nautical Science. He then worked as a Captain and Chief Engineer for a California based shipping company and later a company based in the Gulf South giving him first-hand experience in the transportation industry.

Peter brings a wealth of legal and practical experience to his projects and has earned a reputation for finding creative, business-driven solutions to his clients’ problems throughout the world.

Complex litigation:

 

In Heidmar Inc. v. Anomina Ravennate Di Armanento Sp.A. of Ravenna, Peter handled a case involving a procedure for the securitization and collection of debt involving multinational arbitration. In addition, he represented a U.K. Voice Recognition and Dictation Pioneer in a seven-year patent infringement case, obtaining favorable, confidential settlements – AllVoice Computing PLC v. Nuance Communications.

 

International transactions:

 

Peter has also handled matters involving international corporate formation, mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions, as well as the construction, repair, purchase, sale and financing of offshore rigs, vessels, and aircraft. In addition, he has experience in negotiating and drafting contracts, charter agreements and financing documents. Peter routinely counsels’ boards of directors, family offices and corporate clients in methods to minimize risk and solve problems in their business operations. He has assisted clients with matters on every continent, except Antarctica, and regularly coordinates with local counsel around the world.
